In the past, the region was inhabited by numerous cultures and civilizations, such as Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims. It has an ancient history and is host to many important historical cities such as Murcia, known as the capital of Costa Calida, as well as Cartagena, Lorca and Mazarrón, amongst others.

Costa Calida is also known as the Region of 1001 Flavors, as it has a heterogeneous gastronomy with a wide range of typical dishes. The ideal place to try out the delicious Mediterranean diet with its breads, olive oils, wines and precious sea treasures.
